October Meeting Minutes

SWSC October Meeting

10/12/17 pm @ Guston’s 18 members present

Meeting called to order by Scott at 7:57 p.m. Waived reading of September minutes. Minutes will be posted on the website on the blog.

Commodore: Scott reported our website has been purchased (sailswsc.com and sailswsc.net). Commodore’s newsletter has been updated with our most recent and upcoming events and is also posted on the website blog.

Vice Commodore: Joy reported our next race is Saturday 10/14.

Fleet captain: Ed will be updating race results on the website.

Purser: Balance $2031.14 as of 9/30/17.

Raft up: Joe absent. We discussed the last 2 raft ups.

Sea Scouts: No report.

Foghorn: Brad absent.

Old Business: Scott and Ardythe passed along a report from Brad about the Commodore’s Ball which will be held 11/11 at the Allatoona Yacht Club. 35 dollars/person. Please bring a nautical decoration for the table and a door prize. Joy will provide a music playlist. Dressy casual. Joy reported that the memorial bench is still in progress.

New Business: Nomination and election of 2018 officers. Ardythe and Laura agreed to stay in their current positions of Treasurer and Yeoman. Nominations for Commodore, Vice Commodore and Fleet Captain were made. Steve Gully will be Commodore, Brad Braswell will be Vice Commodore, and Susanne Johnson-Berns will be Fleet Captain.

Fall Cruise plans were discussed and Steve described the advantages to sailing as a group and learning from each other. Andy reminded us that we need to start planning our December meeting/party.

Membership: No report.
